About Me

Currently, I'm a student in the charter class of the Graduate Diploma in Science Communication offered jointly by Laurentian University and Science North.  As part of the program, I recently completed an internship (Feb. - May, 2006) in which I researched, wrote and produced science news for Daily Planet at the Discovery Channel Canada.

I'm a student member of the Canadian Science Writers' Association, and I intend to become a full member upon finishing school.

Since July 2005, I've been the site administrator of and a contributor to the Science Communication Blog, which is an online forum for comment on science issues.

I hold a B.Sc. in Oenology and Viticulture from the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute at Brock University.

Science Communication Interests

The areas of specific interest to me in science communication include public relations, strategic communications, mass media, live programming,  and  adult education. I'd also like to be a freelance science writer for both online and print publications. And, I'm interested in opportunities to be a live presenter or spokesperson for science organizations.

         Research Interest

I'm researching the representation, in terms of framing and tone, of nano science and technology (S&T)in the Canadian newspaper press. The research consists of a content analysis of several years-worth  of nano S&T articles from various newspapers across the country.
